The 2017 America’s Cup finals are in Bermuda. This is the first time since 1983 that the America’s Cup has been so close, so why wouldn’t we go? Ocean Sailing Academy is hosting the mid-Atlantic departure point for the trip to Bermuda. We will have a local race that will be an introductory / prep day in May, this gives everyone a chance to know the Captain and one another. We leave on June 10th and arrive in Bermuda four to six days later. The Cup finals start on Saturday, June 17th. There are a couple of different ways to participate:
- To ride along with us you can take the passage from Charleston to Bermuda on one of our cruising boats with one of our captains and spend up to 6 days in Bermuda watching the races and enjoying the America’s Cup atmosphere and then fly home. OR You can fly to Bermuda and spend up to 6 days enjoying the Cup activities and take the passage home. There is a 4 person minimum for each leg of the trip, please call 843-971-0700 to reserve your spot for this rare event. There is a local race in May that is a requirement in preparation for either leg of the journey. Participants must have completed Basic Keelboat or have the equivalent skill set.
- If you are a boat owner who is interested in joining the flotilla to Bermuda, the price is $199/boat plus $150 per person fee for socials. This includes pre-departure organization, weather routing by WRI, St. George’s Harbour anchorage, St. George’s dockage (limited), Launch Service (no dinghy needed), organized social events.
